With so much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, people are understandably feeling anxious, fearful, isolated, and mentally drained. Although the pandemic is new, stress and other mental health issues are not- these issues have only been intensified by the pandemic. What COVID-19 has highlighted, however, is the effects of policies that have oppressed our underserved populations such as undocumented immigrants. Our communities in Will and Kankakee Counties have suffered from the lack of resources and bilingual mental healthcare providers far before this pandemic.
On the other hand, this pandemic has also highlighted empathy, kindness, and global unity. For the first time in history, the whole world is united against a common enemy. Let’s stand together and help those who need it most. Your donations will contribute to a mental health fund to help offset the cost of virtual bilingual life coaching sessions for those who otherwise cannot afford it.
Con tanta incertidumbre en torno a COVID-19, es comprensible que la gente se sienta ansiosa, temerosa, aislada y agotada mentalmente. Aunque la pandemia es nueva, el estrés y otros problemas de salud mental no lo son – estos problemas solo se han intensificado por la pandemia.
